_______________
PROJECT 2: JUMP ANIMATION
"Produce and manage an animation project individually by using relevant programs and software that enable 3D animation of acting and lip sync. Each progress should be clearly labelled, explained and dated in the blog entries."

____________
Progress

Just like the previous project, we are supposed to have a jump animation for this project. I will be using the Animator's Survival Kit's jump as my reference for this project.

Fig 1.1, Jump Reference

Starting from frame 1, I created an idle pose for him to start in and used the reference in the background as a guide for my jumps. I blocked out the poses first by copying from the guide, although I've added some of my own poses in between for better consistency. Only IK movement was used during the process.

During this phase, I go back in to polish each frame and see if any poses look too weird or need deleting, Mr Kamal explained that simplicity is best and that we don't need a lot of frames. Each frame is 3 frames apart to create a smooth consistency, but some of them are further apart as a way to hold a frame for longer.

Once I was happy with the jump animation I created, I went into rendering my animation in the Render setting in Viewport Shading. I created a background for the character to jump in & adjusted the lighting if needed.

REFLECTION

For this assignment, I felt that I was able to improve a lot, especially in the animation phase where I had to move different body parts to achieve the pose I needed. I feel that I am doing better in terms of gauging how the program works so I want to work harder in the future to get better. I was motivated by my classmates' and friends' work when Mr Kamal would do revisions to our works, it's very fascinating to see everyone's different thought processes even though the animation was similar. Overall, I had an okay time when making this animation and would want to revisit it in the future to see if I can improve it further from a better skill level.
